Does Success Have To Mean Sacrifice?

Having received more coaching, mentoring & training in the past 2-3 years than I probably received during my 4 year bachelor’s degree at university, I’ve been reflecting this week on the journey.

My mentors, coaches & trainers have included Richard Bandler, Michael Neill, Paul McKenna, Bob Proctor, Paul Chek, Nicola Cairncross, Rich Schefren and quite a few more, if you include the books I’ve also read along the way.

It’s been an interesting, enlightening and challenging journey and I’ve been able to compare & contrast the styles of some of my teachers & coaches.

To break it down simply, there seem to be two main styles of coaching and mentoring…

The first believe that to achieve success, follow your bliss or live your legacy, you probably have to make some sacrifices. It seems that it’s just the way it is if you want to achieve something ‘worthwhile’ and you better knuckle down & work hard to achieve it. A little along the lines of “If it’s not hard & it doesn’t hurt a bit, then it’s not worthwhile”.

The second believe that fun, smiling and laughter are the keys to following your bliss, finding your legacy and making a positive contribution. A little along the lines of “If it’s not fun and you don’t enjoy it, then it’s not worthwhile”.

I have to say that personally I prefer the latter.

I know of many people who put themselves under so much pressure to identify their legacy, find & follow their bliss and work out why they’re here so they can live up to that reason, that they often forget to enjoy their life…worrying instead if it’s ‘enough’, if it’s ‘right’ or if they’re making ‘enough of a difference’.

If you want to find out, then you should look to this man…

The person I’ve met along the way who most embodies the ‘fun’ approach is possibly one of the best coaches & mentors in the world…Michael Neill.

His website & 12 month coaching program is well worth the (relatively small) investment and his coaching tips on all manner of things are quite possibly the most down to earth, practical, implementable and effective there are.

p.s. And even if you’re not a fan of ‘coaching’, Michael is definitely the coach for you.

Did you enjoy this? Spread the fun!
