Lesson learned already this week (and it’s only Tuesday)…don’t fool yourself into thinking you know what others ‘know’, ‘feel’ and ‘think’. It causes big problems.
The problem with you or anyone else making assumptions about what you or others think, intend or know is that more often than not you are way off the mark. I learned that lesson this week but it’s cost me a friendship.
In business however, this is a bit of a stumbling block.
I can hear the cries of my clients right now…”But how can you really ‘know’ your target market then?”
Well, you can’t until they become a client and then you can ask away and get feedback about why they became a client, why they chose to work with you and what they really thought about your marketing. And ask your existing clients the same questions.
Constant feedback from your existing client base is vital to attracting more. I don’t do nearly enough asking for feedback but this has reminded me to ask for more.
