Supporting my blogging friends

Posted by Lea 22 January, 2008

One of the signs of being a blogging addict is that you also start to call people you’ve never met – but whose blogs you follow and therefore you think you know them – “friends”.

This post is to support a few of my blogging “friends” who have exciting ventures and projects in the works.

First up is Chuck Hester, who works as a director for the mailing list service, iContact [aff]. Chuck is a power networker on LinkedIn who originally commented on this blog when I reviewed iContact. He is also a major advocate of the “Pay It Forward” concept and has just started up his very own blog, The Pay It Forward Chronicles.

Secondly, some other blogging pals, Emma Bird from How To Italy and Joanna Young from Confident Writing are joining together to run the Absorbing Writing workshop in sun-drenched Sardinia. Sort of knowing these two ladies from their blogging exploits, a couple of Twittersations and some emails, I am sure the workshop will be fabulous.

And finally there’s Greg Hollings. My partner in crime for a couple of projects who guest posts on the LIP blog and the Get Better Abs blog. Greg also writes on his own blog which has recently undergone a revamp and got a new lease of life since he started blogging regularly again. For any of you who miss the health & wellness tips on this blog, check out Greg’s blog.

Okay Lea I’ll willingly confess to being a blogging addict… but I’d stretch your definition of what it means to be a blogging friend.

Someone you get to know over time through reading their words and exchanging constructive comments… someone who makes an effort to keep in touch… someone who thinks about ways to help you out… someone who’s generous with their words and their actions…

just like you :-)

Thanks!

Joanna

PS And yes, the workshop will be fabulous!

A big thanks from me, too. I echo what Joanna says about blogging friends. Her definition seems pretty spot on to me.

Oh, and you’re spot on with your description of sun-drenched Sardinia, too. The island is dazzling in the sunlight today. Is Cape Town the same?

What people are saying about the writing workshop

One of the great things about 1) writing your own pr material and then 2) putting it out through a blog is that you get almost immediate feedback, comments and reactions. Here are some of the things that people have

As ever, Joanna, you are right – and your definition of “blogging friends” should demonstrate to others why they need to come to your workshop :-)

Emma – Cape Town is indeed dazzling in the sunlight today – although when I read your comment yesterday it was raining! First day of rain for a while though so we can’t complain. It’s due to be 30 degrees here for the next few days…and I’m considering learning to surf (we’re living right next to one of the best surfing beaches apparently)…it’s just the shark spotters and warning signs that I can’t get over yet!!
