Surfing in the Big Apple

Currently sitting in a Starbucks by Central Park enjoying a lovely, sunny fall day in the Big Apple. We’ve just found a Whole Foods supermarket here (it’s like coming home to the mother ship) and had an Indian for breakfast (body clocks are clearly screwed!!!).

Had a fantastic meal out last night at the Gotham Bar & Grill (recommended by all my & my brother’s NY contacts) and today we’re having a ‘chilled’ day of blobbing.

Our ‘home’ here is the Waldorf – the trip is a 60th birthday & 25th anniversary present to our parents and whilst they revel in the luxury of a suite, we (me, J & Daniel) are all sharing a rather more modest room which doesn’t even have a kettle in to make a cuppa with.

Daniel insists on walking round everywhere exclaiming in a loud voice “well, that’s just what Americans do / eat for breakfast / say / drink / think etc. etc.” and didn’t quite get it when a local New Yorker stopped and asked him “Well, what do you eat for breakfast then?”. Wally.
