As an online entrepreneur – one who switches between projects from week to week (oh, who am I kidding? Day to day) – it’s an ongoing quest to find a structure and framework into which you can neatly tuck everything away. In reality it’s never quite like that though, is it?

Well, it isn’t for me. I still suffer from the highly uncontrollable affliction that is DNA – otherwise known as Domain Name Addiction. Symptoms include:

Sudden hot flashes of inspiration

A burning need to check available domain names

Sensations of relief only when the domain you want is available and it’s safely snuggling alongside the other 60+ you own in your domain registration account

I’ve written before about how to fit your online empire together into one cohesive structure – it’s an ongoing quest of ours – and once again, we’ve updated the structure of our empire to more accurately reflect the direction we’re currently headed in.

I could say that we’ve *finally* found the right one but I know myself better than that – who knows what will happen next week or month or year and how many more iterations we’ll make?

The latest incarnation is a revamped Kinetiva – a whole new design, a ton of new content, a network of new sites and a new tagline. This is my big idea; it’s my mission and it’s at the heart of everything we do online. (Ok, ok – almost everything).

We actually launched with a different tagline: Where Talent, Passion & Purpose Collide. It was ok but a few things didn’t sit right with me:

It didn’t feel groundbreaking nor earth shattering – it’s hard to be those things when every man & his dog are talking about walking your own path, going into business on your own and pursuing unconventional lifestyles but it’s still important that what we do feels unique to us and the people who connect with us.

It didn’t say what it did on the tin – it’s not really clear what our mission is from that, nor what you’re going to get when you come to the site.

And so we launched the site (even though we knew it wasn’t right – that’s the best thing about online stuff, you can change it so very easily), mulled on it for over 3 weeks and then came up with the current one: Become A Pioneer of Your Own Life.

I think it’s better but most of all I like it better.

But I think perhaps it still needs some explanation – a manifesto, perhaps (done to death too online though – and not even properly at that) – so I’m going to be sharing a series of posts in the coming days about what it means to Become A Pioneer of Your Own Life. I hope you’ll join me…it may mean more than you think ;)

Whoops…there goes another week and no new posts on this blog. This time round though, I’m not going to start by moaning about how stressed out I am by this project, oh no – instead I’ve got some exciting news to share…

We have been busy working on our new professional brand which we’re launching officially today (yes I know it’s a Sunday…no rest for the wicked/stupid/those who commit to something they wished they hadn’t!).

So without further ado here it is…the new brand: Kinetiva (pronounced kinetiva, as in kinetic but with a ‘va’ on the end). Check out the new portal and what the name means here >>>

Why the new brand?

You might be wondering why we’ve launched a new brand, especially given that we often get very good feedback about our Project Woodward brand.

The main reason is that for some of the target markets we work with (more corporate types and professional services), the Project Woodward brand is a bit too personal for our liking and was never really mean to be the name for our company in the first place – it was temporary in the absence of anything else we liked.

Kinetiva is sufficiently generic and corporate-y to cover all bases. We did some very general and brief ‘user testing’ and asked a few people what concepts and ideas the name conveyed when they saw it. We got exactly the kinds of responses we were aiming for…so from this point forward, Kinetiva becomes the brand under which all of our commercial ventures will sit.

What about the old brand?

The ‘old’ brand, Project Woodward, is staying but becomes more our personal brand. It will cover personal projects like our own personal/travel blogs and anything else we do that doesn’t have a commercial aim to it.

So what’s changed?

In reality? Not an awful lot, especially for our clients and customers. You may notice some minor tweaks to all our sites to incorporate the new brand and tie them to our networks and we also have new email addresses for the commercial side, but we still use the existing PW ones so will receive mail wherever it’s sent to.

But now for the important part…what do you think about the new brand?

P.S. Ooops, forgot about the call for help bit…will blog about that later this week.
